Holiday Fashion Trends

2014-12-11 19.20.00

Last week we talked about holiday traditions. This week we are shifting our focus to holiday fashion trends!  Personally, I have been a big fan of a deep red lip gloss with some sparkle this season.  My go to outfit has been long sweaters with slouchy tees, skinny jeans and boots!  Today we have a few team members and readers sharing their favorite trends! We also connected with the lovely fashion blogger Lindsey Turner of Thrift and Shout for holiday party fashion tips!

From the team and readers:

For make-up I like a simple fresh face. When my hair is up in a bun, I pair it with a cute headband, but when it’s down I always wear funky colored beanies.  To keep warm I love chunky sweater and cute oxford shoes! –Katelin Crawford

“FUN CHRISTMAS SOCKS!!!” – Hannah Kahley

“I keep warm with infinity scarves and leg warmers!” – Laurel Powers

“I love holiday socks, especially the fuzzy ones! I also like the hats with the ear flaps.” -Glenna Keopnick

“To be honest, obnoxious patterned knit sweaters.” –Nicole Reed

Tips from Lindsey:

Tip #1 Pick a dress or top with an embellished neckline and you will save time and money on jewelry.

Tip #2 Utilize separates you already own.  Buy one sparkly or festive piece and add it to a basic that is already in your closet.

Tip#3 To stay warm in those slinky dresses rather than grabbing a boring cardigan reach for fun faux fur jacket or leather motorcycle jacket instead.

Tip#4 Off the shoulder dresses and tops are the most trendy silhouette for the 2014 holiday!

Tip #5 Try an unexpected color.  While red and green are the obvious choices for the holidays, this year try pale pink or winter white for a more modern look!
